President Erdoğan Criticizes Main Opposition Over "Mehter Anthem" Incident
President Erdoğan shared a post on social media criticizing main opposition figures for turning their backs on a children's Mehter band during a national holiday. Describing the act as a "lack of historical awareness," Erdoğan stated that they are trying to manufacture anti-republican sentiments even from the Mehter anthem, a symbol of ancestral heroism. Expressing that the situation is neither logical nor funny, he quoted late singer Ahmet Kaya's lyrics, calling the stance "inconsistency and foolishness from every perspective."
